马来西亚国家石油公司（Petronas）的出口油量远比国内使用量为大， 如今世界油价高涨，Petronas无疑将多赚很多钱，政府竟然在这个非常时期（粮荒、全球经济衰退）大幅度降低对国人的汽油津贴，油价一夜之间（如同台湾的情况一样，涨价前夕全国大塞车添油）暴涨41%。随之而来，是展开一连串作秀多于对人民有实际帮助的措施。这种行为，根本是无耻至极。他们作出把人民 当白痴的诸多解释，而根本不敢（从来就没有）公开Petronas的财务报告。反对党积极要求政府公开该报告，政党、民间团体也不时进行示威活动。毕竟，很多 人“不方便”参与示威，无论是家庭或者是个人社会地位方面的因素。
抗议汽油涨价无理的最简单、最安全的方法，就是不打Petronas的油！我们不是要Petronas亏钱，这样做根本不会导致如此结果。我们的目的是向政府、向世界发出一种声音。
大家不要小看自己的力量，一传十，十传百，白传多少你知道吗？白传万！万传多少你知道吗？万传亿！

Unfortunately, that is not the way the oil industry works. Say if there's a Petronas refinery in the east coast, it would be too costly to transport the oil all the way to west coast or down South etc. All oil companies regardless of whether it is Petronas, Shell, Esso etc. all buy from each other. So that means if people don't buy from Petronas, Shell and Esso will just end up selling more and when that happens they just buy from Petronas. But most likely they will not as they have lots to sell. A lot of people then question so then Petronas will reduce prices? Well it doesn't work that way since Petronas is more than happy to sell the oil elsewhere. Why would they want to sell to Malaysians which they still have to subsidise the fuel? They would rather just export it and make a clean profit. These same companies trade in oil futures which drive the prices up.
The other method of boycotting oil for 1 to 3 days will also not work. This is because people will just end up filling up the oil they did not buy for that 1st to 3rd day on the 4th day.
What's more important is for people to realise that we all have to do our part to use less fuel. Forget SUVs, single occupancy vehicles, etc. It's time to save the earth. This is not a Malaysian problem, it's a global problem and let's have every reason to believe that this is the punishment for earthlings for their dependency on oil and pollutants created all these years. Sure, it's Malaysia's problem for not running the country well that we need oil to subsidise our own country debts. Unless we can solve that issue, e.g. turn Malaysia into a Financial services, blah blah blah country that is income generating rather than relying on natural resources to subsidise our pockets, this will be and endless viscous cycle.
